Girls Inc. of the Island City is a local affiliate of the national nonprofit organization Girls Inc. Since its founding in 1964, Girls Inc. of the Island City has provided the only youth development services just for girls in Alameda. We recognize that gender stereotyping still limits girls' potential.

At Girls Inc., girls are challenged to explore science, math and computers; examine how money is earned and invested; and to ask questions about themselves and the world in which they live. Our nationally recognized programming is designed to be hands-on and interactive in order to encourage each girl to take risks and gain a sense of her own power and strength.
