The Girls Inc. Teen Program focuses on giving girls in 9th through 12th grade an opportunity to develop important skills, meet friends, and determine a course for their lives. We provide fun and interactive programs that equip girls with the skills to succeed in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

Blueprint Social Action Group
Make a difference in the community! Have your voice heard! Join Blueprint, a social action group for high school teens. Get involved in a program that gives you the opportunity to educate your peers about important teen issues. Current topic will be selected by participants. This group meets on Thursdays from 4:00-5:15. Girls in 9th through 12th grade welcome (7th and 8th grade girls may apply but must go through an interview process). FacilitateHER
Like working with kids? This is a program where teens are trained in leadership and facilitation skills. Teens begin the program as counselors-in-training and finish the program as confident group leaders. They have the opportunity to assist a teacher as well as design and lead their own activities with elementary-aged girls. FacilitateHER meets on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:15 pm.
Teen Zine

Do you like to write, draw comics, or do other artwork? We are looking for writers and artists to help put together the spring issue of the zine. The teen zine, entitled Out LOUD, is written, edited, and designed by teens from Alameda and Oakland. This group meets on Wednesdays from 4:00 -5:15. Girls in 9th through 12th grade welcome (7th and 8th grade girls may apply, but must go through an interview process).

Y.E.L. (Young Entrepenurial Leaders) Program
Interested in creating your own company? Come and learn the in and outs of designing and marketing a product. As a group we will create a business idea that will be submitted to Girls Inc. National Corporate Camp competition. This program meets Tuesdays from 3:30-5:15 p.m. Girls in 9th through 12th grade welcome.
6th Annual Girls Summit took place on February 21, 2009!
Each year Girls Incorporated of the Island City holds the Girls Take Charge Summit for teen girls. At this year’s summit, girls participated in different workshops such as Healthy Skin Care, Self Defense, Financial Literacy to name a few. They participated in a lively forum about making change in their communities, which led to a brainstorm of things in their communities which need to be changed.
