The Girls Inc. Women of the 21st Century Club held its first Speaker Event on Monday, January 31^st, 2005. The topic was "Violence Against Women and Girls." Tara Shabaz, Director of Programs and Operations for the California Alliance Against Domestic Violence, served as special guest speaker. Teens in Girls Inc.'s Blueprint Program to Prevent Teen Dating Violence also gave an informative and inspiring presentation about their efforts to educate their peers about this problem. The event was held at the community center at the Community of Harbor Bay Isle Owners Association, which donated the venue to Girls Inc. for the evening.
