Women of the 21st Century Club Steering Committee Biographies

Christina Ellwood is a seasoned senior executive with over 20 years experience in the technology industry. She is the President and CEO of Moreland Associates, a marketing consulting firm specializing in technology companies, which she founded in 2000. Prior to Moreland, she founded and served as President and CEO of OfficePlease Inc., an intranet software company and ASP, and currently serves as the Chairman for the OfficePlease Foundation. Prior to OfficePlease, she was the VP of Marketing for Sentient Networks until their acquisition by Cisco Systems. Previously, she was director of carrier development and marketing at Premisys, which was later acquired by Zhone. Prior to Premisys, she held business development and marketing positions with N.E.T. and Kevex Instruments. She is active in a number of non-profit organizations, including the Silicon Valley Association of Start-up Entrepreneurs, and serves on the East Bay Series steering committee. She is a founding member of the Women of the 21st Century Club and serves on the Club's Steering Committee, where she leads Club Programs and Events.

Judy Grant is founder and CEO of Grant and Associates, a company that offers customized consulting - to meet the news media or to meet Wall Street - to create bottom line results for CEO's and senior executives. She brings over 25 years of media expertise in the areas of both on-air talent and corporate executive consulting. Her background in television news - working at CBS News in New York with Dan Rather, Charles Osgood, Charles Kuralt, and Meredith Vierra - has served as a foundation for her award-winning career. She has worked in all facets of print and television news, from reporting and television news anchoring to news management and producing. Her clients include executives from all industries. She is a founding member of the Women of the 21st Century Club and leads Club Ambassador Training.

Dorie Guess Behrstock has been a supporter and ambassador for Girls Incorporated of the Island City since 2001, serving the organization as its Board President from 2001 to 2003 and as its 1st VP and Fund Development Chair from 2003 to 2006. She is also active in other community groups, including Isle City Business and Professional Women. Prior to moving to Alameda, she worked in New York City in Mobil Oil's Treasurer's Office, as a Citibank Vice President in Airline and Aerospace lending, and as a United Nations Peacekeeping Logistics Section Chief. She lived and worked in Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia for more than 10 years and has seen the importance of helping girls and women obtain education and employment to benefit themselves, their families, and their communities. Her current focus is conducting independent research about dual career couples, women's global mobility, and work-life balance. She is a founding member of the Women of the 21st Century Club and serves on the Club's Steering Committee, where she is co-chair of Club Membership.

Laurie Harper is a co-partner in the executive search firm of Harper & Yao. Founded in 2003, Harper & Yao recruit top talent for software companies needing embedded software engineers, sales engineers, product managers, quality assurance engineers and other positions in the low level software arena. Her recruiting career started more than 25 years ago in the financial services area working for Crocker Bank and the financial services search firm Harper Associates. Mid-career she shifted to the technology industry, learning the ropes while contracting for Intel, Sybase, Pac Bell Mobile and others. In 1996, she joined Wind River Systems and for the next seven years - through the tech boom of the late 1990’s - she developed a recruiting strategy for the company that helped grow it from 150 employees to well over 1,800. In 2000, she was asked to join Alameda Hospital’s Board of Directors and helped the hospital run a successful campaign to become a district board with additional funding from a property tax bill allowing the hospital to remain open. She serves on the Club’s Steering Committee, where she is as co-chair of Club Membership.

Sandy Sidorsky is Vice President of Business Development for Relocation Connections, a company that provides project management services for corporate relocations. Relocation Connections has been in business since 1989 and has served businesses and organizations of all types and sizes, coordinating activities during the design and construction of new facilities and planning and implementing the actual move. Prior to joining Relocation Connections in 2001, she was Director of Real Estate and Facilities for Ascend Communications. She joined Ascend Communications in 1995 when it was a small company located in Harbor Bay Business Park. Between 1995 and 1999 - when Lucent acquired Ascend - she oversaw the growth of Ascend's facilities from 35,000 square-feet and 230 employees to 2,000,000 square-feet and 3,000 employees worldwide. Included in this was the building of a 400,000 square-foot campus that she project-managed in Alameda. She is involved in two professional organizations, Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and Women in Real Estate (WIRE), both dedicated to promoting women in the real estate business. She is a founding member of the Women of the 21st Century Club and serves on the Club's Steering Committee, where she is co-chair of Club Membership.
